Lancashire's leading experts in window film has solved extreme heat and glare problems for Britain’s largest motor insurer.

Lustalux Ltd, which has been supplying and installing commercial window film, graphics and signage for over 20 years, was commissioned by facilities management company Ascot Services to help them with one of their client’s premises.

The business - which is the UK’s most high profile insurance company- was experiencing extreme solar gain issues through their south-facing glazing of one of their buildings; thus impacting significantly on interior comfort and on cooling costs.

The project manager for Ascot Services said: “We have worked with Lustalux on a few projects now and they are definitely our “go to” company for solar film works. They have once again delivered a top-quality project for a high-profile client. They have worked with us every step of the way and we will definitely be utilising their expertise in the future.”

Successful trials were initially carried out with the Solar Gard Sentinel Silver 20 external grade solar control window film, to demonstrate to the end client that the film would solve their solar gain issues followed by the full installation.

It took a total of three weeks to complete the 1100m2 installation and the project concluded September 2018. The film was installed using powered access by our IPAF accredited installation team.

Richard Lancaster, Managing Director of Lustalux, added: “We understand how crucial it is to provide a safe and healthy environment in all types of commercial environments so we were only too willing to help reduce the heat, glare and cooling costs for such an iconic brand. We’ve been a long-standing market leader in the supply and installation of solar control window film and supporting the FM industry is what we do!”

Solar Gard Sentinel outside weatherable window film is a weather resistant film manufactured with a high-tech, scratch resistant coating that protects the film from exposure to our often harsh and varied British climate.

Specially designed to be installed on the outside of the window (face 1 of a DGU), Sentinel window films provide numerous advantages in terms of performance, versatility and ease of installation.

Outside weatherable film provides owners and occupants with an energy advantage by improving the total solar energy rejected from a window. Just like indoor window film, Sentinel external grade film significantly reduces the amount of solar heat from entering the windows. It also naturally expels more of the solar energy outdoors instead of absorbing it into the film and glass.

When solar radiation strikes window film, some of that radiation is absorbed into the film, causing the glass temperature to rise. The energy in the glass can then be conducted either inside the room or outdoors. With Sentinel external grade films, more of the absorbed energy is released into the outside air, putting less stress on the actual glass. Lustalux has worked extensively with facility managers, supplying and installing window films, graphics and signage in office buildings, shops, factories, and public buildings across the UK since 1991.
