Low-cost rail operator Lumo has announced the start date of its new West Coast rail service.
The Preston headquartered provider will offer return journeys to London from £23.90 and to Stirling from £14.90 starting on May 25.
The service will also call at Milton Keynes, Nuneaton, Crewe, Carlisle, Lockerbie, Motherwell, Whifflet, Greenfaulds and Larbert.
Stuart Jones, managing director of First Rail Open Access, said: “This is a very exciting moment in our journey to launching a pioneering new service for the West Coast.
“Customers can look forward to simple, low-cost fares with an excellent experience.”
In March, Lancashire Business View reported Lumo had opened its base in Preston and expected to create around 100 jobs.
The following month its first refurbished train, fitted out at Alstom’s Widnes modernisation facility, was revealed.
Steve Harvey, services director UK and Ireland at Alstom, said: "We are proud to help Lumo launch its new West Coast service through our refurbishment programme of their Class 222 fleet.”
Lumo already serves the East Coast Main Line, linking Glasgow, Falkirk and Edinburgh with the North East of England and London.
