Lora's driving skills on course

Driving’s a key part of any golfer’s game, but it’s just taken on a whole new meaning for Lancashire’s most successful lady golfer.

Chorley’s Lora Fairclough, who played the Ladies’ European Tour for 20 years – and won four times – has teamed up with used car specialists Knickerbrook Cars of Chorley and is now driving a bespoke Audi A3 Sportback. “Golf and charity, that’s the story,” explained Phil Weaver of Knickerbrook. “My business partner Ben Collier is a keen golfer, Lora coaches him and his daughter, they know each other well. Plus, for various personal reasons, we are all great supporters of the Rosemere Cancer Foundation – Lora is patron of the fundraising group Rosemere Golfers Against Cancer so it’s great to promote that via the car.” Lora, whose successful sporting achievements include representing Great Britain and Europe in the Solheim Cup, took delivery of her sponsored vehicle this week and was delighted with the arrangement. She said: “I'm thrilled to agree this sponsorship deal with Knickerbrook Cars. Ben and Phil have been incredibly enthusiastic and generous. I'm so excited at this new partnership and chapter in my golfing journey. “Knickerbrook cars are also avid supporters of Rosemere, of which I am a proud patron. My sparkly stunning Audi A3 will soon be taking the message across the roads of Lancashire vroom vroom!” Lora turned professional in 1991 at the age of 17 and played at the highest level of Ladies’ golf for many years. She stood down in recent times and is now embarking on a highly successful ‘second career’ as a golf coach. Phil Weaver added: “We are really excited to be working with such a well renowned golf professional and as an added bonus she is one of the nicest ladies you will ever have the good fortune to meet.” For more information contact Phil Weaver or Ben Collier on 01257 232777 Pic: Lora Fairclough picks up and shows off her personalised Audi from Knickerbrook Cars of Chorley
