Local foodie companies hook up to enhance offering

Two award-winning businesses who lean heavily on family traditions have combined their skills and passion to create a unique shopping and dining experience.

The Seafood Pub Company has taken the helm at the bistro at Roaming Roosters, Higham, leaving the Mellin brothers to concentrate on maximising potential within the farm shop and adjoining petting farm, relaunched this week.

Joycelyn Neve, managing director at the Seafood Pub Company, which boasts eight other sites across Lancashire, including the Barley Mow in Pendle and the Assheton Arms in Downham, said:

“This is a really positive move for all involved and we’re excited to be working alongside the Roosters team, with who we have enjoyed a good working relationship for the last few years.

“Steak nights across our various sites were always packed to capacity and our meat v fish events really drew in the crowds; it’s a winning formula.

“We are now able to offer customers the best of both worlds; the new menu will still include all the classic Roosters favourites, but also some Seafood Pub Company additions, such as our robata grill and BBQ section and of course a few fish dishes thrown in for good measure.

“And, of course, we will be getting our meat from next door in the farm shop; you can’t get more locally sourced than that!”

Simon Mellin, of Roaming Roosters, said: “This marks the start of a new era for Roaming Roosters and we’re all looking forward to working together to make the whole experience the very best it can be.

“While we will continue to provide the key ingredients for the bistro’s dishes we will also focus on looking after the eating at home needs of customers, offering a new range and layout in our farm shop.

“This will be alongside the new and improved Rooster Ranch, which is open every weekend from now on and will be open to school groups mid-week to teach them about the farm to fork journey.”

“It’s been a busy and exciting four years at Roaming Roosters, and we can’t thank our customers enough for their continued loyalty and support. We hope they will all continue to support us as we embark on our new, joined-up venture.”

The whole site including the Roosters Bistro and the farm shop will close from Monday, May 16th to 19th for a full refurbishment. The farm shop will reopen at 9am on Friday May 20th, and the Roosters Bistro at 12noon for lunch service, with a private launch event for friends, families, customers, suppliers and local businesses taking place from 4pm to 6-30pm and evening service will follow.

Joycelyn added: “Additional to regular opening hours, the bistro will now be open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, with an enhanced bar and wine list on offer, complementing the new menu nicely.” “The Roaming Roosters ethos and vision is very similar to ours and so we’re really excited to be able to maximise on this great relationship, offering the people of Pendle and beyond a fabulous place to eat, drink, and shop for quality produce.”
