Link-Ability Charity has doubled its office space from 1,968 sq ft to 3,936 sq ft at Ackhurst Business Park in Chorley.

The charity first moved to Ackhurst Business Park in 2007.

The expansion forms part of the organisation’s wider growth strategy, enabling it to better support adults with learning disabilities across Lancashire and Greater Manchester.

Founded in 1989 by a group of parents who were seeking better opportunities for their children as they transitioned into adulthood, Link-Ability has since grown into a registered charity supporting individuals and families from its branches in Chorley, Ormskirk, Preston, and Rochdale.

Jo Adshead, executive director of Link-Ability, said: “We are delighted to have been fortunate enough to expand the work of the charity in recent years.

"Expanding our head office space and training facility into the ground floor of our existing office space has been a long-standing ambition which we have now realised. The location at Ackhurst Business Park is perfectly situated at the heart of the community we serve in Chorley.

"It enables easy motorway access for Link-Ability staff visiting head office. The ground floor, level access is perfect for our beneficiaries who have increased mobility needs. We are super happy to be here and are all enjoying working in our new space.”

Ackhurst Business Park is home to 30 different businesses, which in turn support over 700 jobs, making it a significant contributor to the local economy.

Nick Hemmings, regional property manager at Northern Trust, said: “We are pleased to have supported Link-Ability in their continued growth.

"They are a long-standing occupier at Ackhurst Business Park, and it’s fantastic to see them expand their operations here. Their work within the community is truly commendable, and we’re proud to be able to provide the quality, accessible space they need to deliver their services.”

Ackhurst Business Park is strategically located approximately one mile from Chorley town centre, close to the M61 motorway, and within easy reach of Chorley and Euxton train stations. On-site benefits include ample parking, overnight and weekend security, and proximity to local amenities including Tesco and the Fieldfare Pub.
