Spaces limited to exhibit at #AmazingAccrington futures event

More than 1,000 Year 11 students from across Hyndburn will descend on Accrington Stanley’s Wham Stadium on Friday 2nd October for the sixth #AmazingAccrington Futures Event.

The annual event will give young people the chance to discover the wealth of career, education and training opportunities available to them both in Hyndburn and further afield.

Students from Mount Carmel, The Hyndburn Academy, The Hollins, Rhyddings, St Christopher’s CE High School and Accrington Academy will all attend the private event, which will be held in the 1968 Lounge at the Wham Stadium.

Throughout the day, students will have the opportunity to speak face-to-face with leading employers, colleges and training providers, helping them find out more about the different routes they can take after finishing school.

Organisations already confirmed include the Royal Air Force, The Senator Group and Hyndburn Borough Council, alongside a wide range of businesses and providers offering opportunities across numerous industries and career paths.

Murray Dawson, chair of #AmazingAccrington, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our young people. Take your time, explore what’s here, ask questions and learn as much as you can, you might discover an opportunity you never knew existed.”

The event has become an important date in the #AmazingAccrington calendar, bringing together Hyndburn’s secondary schools and giving employers the chance to speak directly to the borough’s next generation as they begin making important decisions about their futures.

Accrington Stanley will once again host the event at the Wham Stadium, with the club supporting the initiative as one of its official partners.

Accrington and Rossendale College – part of the East Lancashire Learning Group, will also return for the 2026 event, having supported and attended the Futures Event for a number of years.

Melanie Wright, schools team lead/outreach at East Lancashire Learning Group, said: “We’ve been coming to the Futures Event for years and always meet so many engaged and enthusiastic students. It’s a brilliant day and we can’t wait to do it all again.”

Blackburn College is another of this year’s event partners and will be on hand throughout the day to speak to students about their options after Year 11.

Elisha Cox, student recruitment coordinator at Blackburn College, said: “The Futures Event is always fantastic and we’re really looking forward to meeting the students. It’s a great chance to chat about their plans and the opportunities available to them after school.”

The 2026 #AmazingAccrington Futures Event is being supported by event partners Accrington Stanley, Accrington & Rossendale College and Blackburn College.

There are still a limited number of exhibition spaces available for local businesses which would like to get involved, showcase their organisation and speak directly to more than 1,000 young people from across Hyndburn.
