Let's be a leader in energy

Energy is a crucial commodity for any business - one of the biggest concerns for many reasons such as security of supply and price. But now there is a growing consideration - where does my energy come from?

More and more there is the chance to specify supply from renewable sources or, of course, the triple whammy of generating your own - guaranteed renewable, can buffer the peaks and troughs in your use versus national grid supply and you could sell the excess back into the system.

And the Chamber Low Carbon programme can help you get a grant to help with those purchase and installation costs.

But for Lancashire it’s more than just a passing interest as consumers - we are a hot bed of energy and low carbon tech manufacturing expertise.

We lead the way in new nuclear and renewables design and innovation. ‘Build Back Better’ really can be green in Lancashire, creating thousands of jobs in years to come.

We have the expertise to lead the world

But if government is really going to launch the renewable energy technologies sector for maximum benefit for Lancashire, we need policy and fiscal measures now.

An energy policy worth its salt, a fair carbon taxation strategy, a planning system that sets baselines for energy efficiency in new builds nationally, and real financial investment in low carbon innovations - in hydrogen tech, electric vehicle charging capacity at a national scale and low carbon and energy innovations - we have the expertise to lead the world, never mind the UK. Let’s do it.
