Lea Hough Chartered Surveyors has appointed a senior planning and development surveyor, joining the firm’s highly regarded Planning and Land Development team.

Andrew Hughes has 12 years of experience working in the land development industry and has worked in both the public and private sector.

Andrew will be based at Lea Hough’s Preston office where his workload will largely encompass identifying potential development sites then working with landowners to secure optimum planning consents, followed by subsequent disposals.

Working with a range of clients including public bodies, private companies and individuals, Andrew’s role will also include a wider range of development services, including land appraisals, valuations and advice on all types of development matters ranging from single plot schemes to large strategic mixed-use sites.

Andrew is a Chartered Town Planner with the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI). His career experience has also included working in a Land Management role, providing him with a wide range of experience in both the rural housing market and urban residential market.

Commenting on Andrew’s appointment, Paul Dignan, partner, said: “We have taken our time to find the right person for this position. With Andrew’s qualifications and knowledge, we believe he is a great fit for the firm and this role. Our Planning and Development department has been an important part of the firm for many years and has a strong reputation within the region and beyond, which Andrew’s own experience should only enhance.

“We have made a number of appointments at different levels over the past 6 months, having taken on two graduates, an apprentice and now the senior appointment of Andrew. Our strategy is to have trusted, experienced surveyors alongside training the talent of tomorrow and with Andrew’s appointment, we believe we are well-placed to provide an excellent level of service to our clients.”

Andrew Hughes commented: “Lea Hough has a well-earned reputation in this area, with a great track-record of working with land-owners, developers and local planners. I’m looking forward to building on this over the coming months and years”.

Earlier this year, Lea Hough’s Planning and Development team were recognised at the national RTPI Planning Excellence Awards for their part in the Dargavel Village Scheme at Bishopton, Scotland.
