Law firm Garricks helps seal healthcare deal

Blackburn commercial law firm Garricks has helped complete a healthcare deal involving two of the Lancashire’s leading private healthcare businesses.

Garricks has advised Preston-based Bespoke Healthcare Group on its acquisition of Sandon House Clinic, also based in Preston, for an undisclosed fee.

Bespoke Healthcare is one of the UK’s leading private independent providers of diagnostic services to the NHS. The company has seen over 50,000 patients nationwide for leading Foundation Trusts including The Walton Centre, Alder Hey and The Countess of Chester Hospital.

Under the terms of the deal the company has secured the business together with an option to purchase Sandon House Clinic’s CQC-registered premises in Millennium City Park, which includes two state-of-the-art theatre suites, two further dedicated treatment and consulting rooms and private recovery areas.

Sandon House Clinic currently operates as a cosmetic surgery company. Its seven strong team of practice nurses and office staff at the Preston clinic, who possess over 80 years of experience, all remain with the business.

Andy Herricks, corporate partner at Garricks solicitors, said: “This acquisition is part of Bespoke Healthcare’s strategic growth plan and provides the business with great new facilities and opportunities for business expansion. Having worked with Gwam and his team on a number of other projects, we are sure the venture will prove to be a great success.”

Gwam Rajiah, managing director for the Bespoke Healthcare Group, said: “Since the company first privately delivered complex diagnostic tests into the NHS in 2006 we have always realised a reduction in healthcare costs while improving patient care. Having our own operational premises was the next logical step.

“With Sandon House Clinic we will not only deliver the most professional, health conscious, private cosmetic treatments in the country, we have the regional facilities and the expertise to deliver investigations, diagnostic services and operations which are tailored to the needs of the North West NHS community.”

Bespoke Healthcare was also advised by Ben Smith at Blackburn-based Pierce Chartered Accountants.

Founded in 2006, Bespoke Healthcare is the leading independent provider of nerve conduction study tests and intraoperative monitoring services for the NHS.

In July last year Bespoke Healthcare achieved £2 million in turnover for the first time. It currently employs nine full-time people and has over 10 leading neurophysiology specialists working on a consultancy basis.

Sandon House Clinic was founded in 2008 by Peter Paterson, who leaves the business with immediate effect but retains sites in Penwortham and Lancaster. Bespoke Healthcare’s plans for Sandon House Clinic’s Preston site include a detailed enhancement of the surgical and non-surgical cosmetic treatments to include both private and NHS offerings, plus a move into investigative, operational and further diagnostic services for NHS Foundation Trusts, Clinical Commissioning Groups and GPs around the North West.
