Law firm bets on success for charity race night

By Farleys Solicitors LLP

21 Mar 2019

Farleys Solicitors held a charity race night in aid of local charity Cancer Help.

Preston Golf Club hosted over 70 guests for an evening of racing fun and a fish and chip supper. Attendees were invited to place their bets, ‘purchase’ horses, and enter the raffle for the chance to win prizes and money.

Overall the event raised a total of £2,974.75. This total is set to be matched by the Farleys Foundation with a grand total of £5949.50 going to Cancer Help; a Preston based charity which provides support for “cancer patients, their families and carers through the impact of cancer diagnosis, the effects of the disease and the effects of its treatment”.

Guests on the night included groups from Charter Financial Planning, Preston Dragons, Gables UK Ltd, Stonehouse Orion, as well as members of Cancer Help and their beneficiaries. The event was also supported by Netstar 9 Childcare.

Rachel Mallett of Cancer Help commented: "A huge thank you to the team at Farleys for all their hard work and organisation to create a fantastic Race Night for Cancer Help (Preston) Ltd.  To have the external support from a business such as Farleys makes a massive difference to our income generation.

"With only 10% of our income coming from the NHS we rely on fund raising events like these through individuals, groups and corporates, but with limited internal resource this is helped along when others do the hard work!"

Farleys partner Antonia Love added: "This is the second event we have held in aid of Cancer Help in the last 12 months. Following on from the success of our Christmas shopping event in November, our race night was a roaring success which was not only lots of fun on the night but also raised a fantastic amount of money for Cancer Help.

"We would like to thank everyone who came along as well as our race sponsors and everyone who donated prizes to the raffle, we couldn’t have done any of this without you!"

Farleys host a range of events throughout the year to raise funds for a number of charities. If you would like to get involved in future fundraising events, please keep your eye on our events page or sign up to our newsletter.
