Lancaster accountancy firms merge

Two established firms of Lancaster accountants have merged following an agreement between Hartley and Co of Sun Street and Scott and Wilkinson of Dalton Square.

The staff of Hartley and Co joined Scott and Wilkinson in Dalton Square at the beginning of this month.

Until the merger, Hartley and Co was a general practice owned and run by Graham Hartley for 23 years. Before setting up his own business Graham worked with another Lancaster accountancy firm.S&W Hartley

Scott and Wilkinson is a five partner accountancy firm. It is one of the longest-established independent accountancy practices in the Lancaster and Morecambe area. The firm's origins date back to 1918, although it was not until 1968, when two local firms merged, that the practice became Scott and Wilkinson.

Graham said: “I believe that the coming together of our two firms is a very positive move. In today’s economic environment it is imperative that clients receive the best possible advice. I am confident that the joining of the two firms will only serve to strengthen this ideal”.

Stuart Hinnigan, partner at Scott and Wilkinson said: “We are delighted to welcome on board Graham and his clients. Due to our similar values, locality and client base, the two firms should work well together. I am very confident that we can continue to meet the needs of all our clients.”

Scott and Wilkinson provide a full range of accountancy and business advisory services including taxation, accounts, audit, corporate finance and payroll, throughout the area.
