Lancashire pair wins regional awards

Two Lancashire business are through to the national finals of the Made in the UK Awards after winning regional titles.

AluFoldDirect Made in the North West

Blackburn-based aluminium glazing fabricator AluFoldDirect was named Manufacturing Company of the Year 2018 (under £25m) at the Made in the North West awards.

Skelmersdale's Scorpion Automotive, which supplies tracking and security products to the likes of Aston Martin, BMW and Toyota, won the Automotive Award.

Craig Miller, managing director of AluFoldDirect, said of the company's third award of 2018: “It’s a real honour to win this third award as it recognises our brilliant team’s hard work and dedication in delivering customers certainty of supply so they can get on and grow their aluminium business.

“Our company motto, ‘That’ll do, won’t do’, along with our 2-week delivery promise and commitment to right first-time manufacturing means that installers get the products they need, when they need them, ready to fit onsite. I’m glad that this hard work has been recognised by the award judges.”

Mark Downing, managing director of Scorpion Automotive, added: “We’ve invested heavily in new manufacturing plant, R&D and people over the last 12 months in support of our ambitious global growth strategy so it’s very gratifying that our efforts have been recognised with this award.

The pair will now represent the North West at the Made in the UK final, which will be held at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool on June 20.
