Kingswood Homes recently welcomed young people from Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zone to Green Hills for an inspiring World of Work tour, offering them a unique insight into careers in the construction industry.
The group explored different houses at various stages of construction, providing them with a hands-on understanding of the housebuilding process.
They had the opportunity to speak with skilled tradespeople on site and hear directly from Kingswood's Construction Director and Green Hills Site Manager about the exciting career opportunities available in the construction sector.
The visit forms part of Kingswood Homes' ongoing commitment to supporting the local community and inspiring young people to consider a future in housebuilding.
As Gold Patrons of Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zone, Kingswood Homes is proud to support the organisation's vital work in providing services and life-changing opportunities for young people aged 0 to 25 in the community.
Stuart Bullough, construction director at Kingswood Homes, said: "We were thrilled to welcome the group from Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zone to Green Hills.
"It's incredibly important to us to show the next generation the varied career opportunities available in construction.
"We're passionate about supporting our local community, and partnerships like this allow us to make a real difference."
Laura Billington, aspirations, skills and progression Lead at Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zone, added: “Opportunities like this World of Work tour are invaluable for our young people.
"Many of them are still exploring what their futures could look like, and being able to step onto a live construction site, meet professionals, and see the variety of roles available really opens their eyes to what’s out there.
"Experiences like this help build confidence, raise aspirations, and bring our young people one step closer to finding a career path that excites them.
"We’re incredibly grateful to Kingswood Homes for their continued support and commitment to inspiring the next generation.”
The Youth Zone provides a safe and inspiring space where young people can access a wide range of activities, including sports, arts and crafts, cooking, and games, as well as free hot meals every day to ensure no child goes hungry.
As part of its continued support for Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zone, Kingswood Homes is also supporting their Christmas gift drive to help children who may not usually receive Christmas presents.
Donation stations have been set up at head office and in Kingswood's sales centres at Green Hills and Spinners Brook, where residents, staff and visitors can donate a gift that will go to a child in the local community.
Stuart added: "The festive season is a time for giving, and we're proud to support Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zone's Christmas appeal.
"Every gift donated will make a real difference to a young person in our local community, and we encourage everyone to get involved and help make this Christmas special for children in need."
