Burnley-based Jones Metcalf Ltd has acquired JRS Traction Ltd for an undisclosed sum.

Jones Metcalf is part of the Burnley-based EFS Global, one of the North West's largest freight and haulage groups.

It currently has eight depots and offices across the country and operates its own UK and European road freight fleet. It also works with selected partners around the world.

North Lincolnshire-based JRS provides high level haulage and logistics services, and the plays a part in EFS' ongoing growth and acquisition strategy across the UK.

The team at law firm Davis Blank Furniss advised Jones Metcalf on all aspects of the deal including legal due diligence and transactional matters. The team was led by Sonio Singh, partner in the corporate department, with assistance from colleagues Charlotte Tyrer (corporate) and Jenny Smith who works in the firm’s property team.

Mark Jones, managing director of the EFS Global, said: “The acquisition of JRS Traction is great news for the business as it will help us to expand our geographical reach and grow our service offering.”

The deal follows a number of other acquisitions made by EFS in recent years including Euro SDB, 747 Express Freight, Logictrans UK Limited, RTS Refrigeration, CS Brunt, Horizon Distribution and Euro-Tran Despatch. Other advisors involved in the transaction were RBSIF who part-funded the acquisition; KM Accountants who acted for Jones Metcalf on the tax aspects of the deal; and John Barkers Solicitors who acted for the shareholders of JRS Traction.
