The first phase of the Blackpool branch - a trade counter - will be up and running next month with a mezzanine level, housing a bathroom showroom, set to follow as phase two in the autumn.

The Burnley firm will expand into Blackpool with industry veteran Mark Heys at the helm. He said: "I have helped the firm find the right site here on Mowbray Drive and we have had customers popping in even before we are officially open, which can only be a good sign.

"James Hargreaves Plumbing Depot is moving forward at quite a pace and I have worked at several of the branches before being handed this management opportunity so I know just how things tick." Bill Davies, sales director at James Hargreaves Plumbing Depot, said: "Blackpool has been on our radar for some time and Mowbray Drive provides us with a great location; very visual and accessible. At 7,000 sq ft and incorporating a bathroom showroom it represents one of our most ambitious branches to date and, in Mark, we firmly believe we have the perfect local man to make it a great success."
