It’s Fergie time at East Lancs network event!

East Lancashire businesses will discover what managerial lessons they can learn from Sir Alex Ferguson at a network event in Rossendale next month.

Sky Sports Soccer Saturday reporter Peter Smith will talk candidly at ‘Meet and Eat in the Valley’ in February about the 20 years he spent working alongside Sir Alex.

In his 38 years in football management, Sir Alex won an incredible 49 trophies and helped grow Manchester United into one of the biggest commercial brands in the world.

From harmony to hairdryer, and double delight to a treble misfortune, Peter will offer a unique insight into the man behind United's greatest ever era and what made him one of sport’s most successful bosses.

Les Nutter, managing partner at Cassons and host of Meet and Eat in the Valley, said: “I think it’s fair to say most football fans have a grudging respect for Sir Alex Ferguson, regardless of what team they support.

“To be as successful as Sir Alex was, and over such a sustained period of time, requires great leadership skills and exceptional strength of character.

"In his capacity as a sports reporter with Clubcall and Sky Sports, Pete Smith spent 20 fascinating years chronicling Sir Alex’s remarkable career, from bust-ups with star players to winning league titles.

“We are looking forward to hearing Pete’s unique insight into what made Sir Alex tick and the lessons business leaders can learn from his management style.”

‘Meet and Eat in the Valley’ takes place on Friday February 12 (12-2pm) at Rossendale Golf Club.

The cost is £15 per person but to mark Valentine’s weekend delegates can bring a friend for free.
