Inspiring business success at Blackpool Enterprise Centre

Blackpool Council is hosting a week of free and professional events at the Enterprise Centre, aimed to enthuse and inspire local entrepreneurs, as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW).

GEW is the world’s largest campaign to promote entrepreneurship, and Blackpool Council is a top partner in both UK-wide and North Western activity. Each year, GEW plays a critical role in encouraging the next generation of entrepreneurs to consider starting up their own business.

From the 16 - 22 November 2015, Global Entrepreneurship Week inspires people everywhere through local, national and global activities designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters and innovators.

The activities at the Enterprise Centre, from large-scale competitions and events to intimate networking gatherings, connect participants to potential collaborators, mentors and even investors.

Coun Mark Smith, cabinet member for Business and Economic Development, said: “Blackpool has long had a reputation for creating entrepreneurs – people with bright ideas who are prepared to turn them into viable businesses.

“Through initiatives such as Blackpool Unlimited and Get Stated we’ve ensured there’s expert help available to turn hundreds of good ideas into sound businesses.

“Take this opportunity to explore your potential and exciting opportunities through a quality selection of free and professional events, where people can share expertise in the hope of bringing new ideas to life.”

As part of this week the Council’s Business Support Team will be hosting a week of free workshops, some targeted at those who are thinking of starting a business, and some for those who have already started. A wide range of topics including finance, on-line marketing and selling will be covered as well as the basics of how to start your business and a session on Social Enterprises. The workshops are being held at Blackpool Enterprise Centre on Lytham Rd, where attendees will also get the opportunity to view the professional EC2 office and meeting room facilities which are available to the local business community.
