Inscape Interiors invests £350,000 in doubling production capacity

Chorley-based Inscape Interiors has doubled its manufacturing capacity following a £350,000 investment in new machinery.

The company specialises in the manufacture and installation of washrooms and changing environments, specialist wall panels and furniture products, serving the construction industry.

The investment includes the installation of a new 15 metre through-feed CNC nesting cell and edge bander with a panel return system, as well as undertaking a complete reconfiguration of the factory layout.

Gary Wynne, managing director of Inscape, said: “This latest investment will help us achieve greater automation and is part of our strategy to make us ready for Industry 4.0, the so-called fourth industrial revolution.

“This is not just about machinery though, it’s also about upskilling our workforce. We’re a people business first and foremost and we’re investing significantly in our training, especially skills in automation software, and looking to strengthen our apprenticeship scheme.”

Inscape secured grant funding from Made Smarter to support its investment plans. The company has also worked closely with the innovation teams at UCLan and Edge Hill University to help bring its plans to fruition.

Gary added: “We’re really optimistic about the future. 2021 has been a fightback year for us following the ground we all lost in 2020 because of the pandemic. The construction industry is now recovering from those shocks and our order book is possibly the strongest it’s ever been.”
