HPA Architects wins at Building Excellence Awards

The 25 home Estuary Hill development in the village of Cockerham, near Lancaster, has been named North West Regional Winner for Best Medium Volume New Housing Development at the LABC Building Excellence Awards 2026.

HPA Architects supported the Wilson & Co Properties development, including planning and site layout design, house type drawings, Building Regulations packages, landscaping proposals and legal deed plans, alongside ongoing technical support. 

Richard Wooldridge, director at HPA, said: "From the outset our aim was to support in creating a scheme that responds thoughtfully to its surroundings, while delivering high-quality homes.

"This award is a wonderful recognition of the entire Estuary Hill team, between us as the architects and all project partners; we’re delighted to see the development making a positive contribution to the local community."

The wider team working on the construction phase of the project included L&W Wilson, HPA Architects and RG Parkins & Partners, alongside Lancaster City Council Building Control. Estuary Hill will now go through to the national judging panel and be eligible to compete at the LABC grand finals in January 2027.

The award marks the third regional win in the last seven years for a HPA designed residential development with Wilson & Co Properties, alongside winning the national Best Medium Volume New Housing Development award in 2022.
