A multi-million pound development at Hippo Motor Group in Blackburn is to create almost 40 jobs in coming months.

Work on the 10,000 sq ft office and showroom expansion of Hippo’s Trident Park showroom and offices is set to be complete in November and to fill it, they need to double their existing salesforce.

They are holding an open day on Thursday, September 19th for potential candidates to come and see what they’re all about and whether they think they are the right fit for the Hippo mould.

Held between 4pm and 7pm, the open day will start with a presentation about the business and then give people the chance to chat to key members of the team to find out more about the opportunities on offer. People can drop in when convenient for them.

Tom Preston, managing director, said: “Hippo has grown beyond all expectation in recent years and each year we are investing further in new property, vehicles and staff in order to meet ever-growing demand.

“We consider ourselves pioneers in the industry, constantly adapting and innovating in order to meet demand. As such, we have now become a one-stop shop for all customer needs.

“With a family history in the motor trade spanning over 100 years, we’re fiercely proud of our heritage and remain true these humble beginnings, despite our huge success.

“We look after our staff and customers alike and recognise that they are key to our success. The new showroom and open plan office space will be an incredible place to work, and we’re proud to be able to offer local people the opportunity to work and grow with us.”

The company, which 11 years ago sold 10 cars a month, now sells over 500 per month, employs over 200 people and has ambitions to reach a total workforce of 250 next year. The growth in staff comes as a direct result of the pending opening of the showroom and offices, as well as a new, state-of-the-art vehicle preparation centre, which opened earlier this year.

Tom said: “It really is an exciting time to join Hippo and we look forward to seeing a wealth of new faces as we open later this year. We are not just looking for experienced sales people within the car sales industry, the main criteria is to have effort and enthusiasm and the desire to succeed.”

The Hippo Motor Group was established in 2007 by Tom and his father Richard Preston. The family has more than 50 years’ experience in the industry, catering for new and used vehicle purchasing, financing, leasing and servicing.
