The #AmazingAccrington Halloween Shop Trail is back this October half-term, building on the success of last year’s event which was the biggest and best yet.
Running from Monday 27th to Friday 31st October and sponsored by Hyndburn Borough Council, the trail invites children under 12 to enjoy a frightfully fun “trick or treat” adventure around Accrington town centre.
Young visitors can collect stamps from 15 participating local outlets, and once they’ve gathered 10 or more, they can enter to win some fang-tastic prizes. Completed entry forms should be dropped into the entry box at Café Ri-An on Stanley Street.
Participating outlets include Elsie’s Café, Happy Cats Hyndburn Rescue, Althams Travel, Sarah Jane’s Crafty Creations, Frankie’s Café, Hyndburn Food Pantry, Kraken Kollectables, Scales of the Basilisk, Jo’s Vintage Coffee Bar, the OASST shop in the Arndale, Acorns of Lancashire, Barbara Kays, Sweet Child of Mine Kidswear, Geeks ’n’ Gizmos and Café Ri-An.
The Halloween Shop Trail encourages families to shop local, explore independent retailers and discover some of Accrington’s hidden gems while enjoying a fun, family-friendly Halloween experience.
There are three fantastic prizes to be won, including a £50 cash prize for first place, Accrington Stanley tickets for second place and a sweet hamper for third place.
Murray Dawson, chair of #AmazingAccrington, said: “The Halloween Shop Trail just keeps going from strength to strength. Last year was our most successful yet, and we’ve been inundated with shops wanting to take part again this year.”
Cllr Kimberley Whitehead, deputy leader of Hyndburn Borough Council, said: “We’re really proud to be sponsoring the #AmazingAccrington Halloween Shop Trail this year. It’s wonderful to see the children having so much fun and it’s also a great initiative for bringing new people into the town centre to discover and support our fantastic local shops.”
Following last year’s event, Michael from Geeks ‘n’ Gizmos, said: “The Halloween event with #AmazingAccrington brought in so many new faces, it was amazing and I am looking forward to the next one.”
Families are encouraged to grab their broomsticks, don their costumes and join in the spooky fun in Accrington town centre this Halloween.
