A Lancashire solicitor’s firm has forged ahead with its Blackpool office launch despite having to postpone an official opening by the world heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury.

The Gypsy King was due to open Alexander Grace Law’s new offices on the Blackpool Business Park on Friday last week and bosses Donnamarie Sturrock and James Young were looking forward to revealing their mystery guest to colleagues, friends and family.

While the launch could not take place due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the company was thrilled to receive Fury’s video message, which has been viewed by thousands on social media.

Donnamarie, who set up the business 3 years ago with James Young in Hapton, said: “We’d been planning the launch for several months, and we had kept news of Fury’s attendance top secret.

“We couldn’t wait to reveal him as our special guest on the night and were especially excited to introduce him to our children and certain staff members who are huge Fury fans. As we got closer to the launch date, however, we knew that an official launch party was not going to happen.”

Remaining positive, the company forged ahead with its launch plans and last week the Blackpool team were in carrying out training ready to start speaking with clients this week.

James added: “The team have been incredibly positive and were all ready to start work while maintaining strict Covid-19 restrictions.

“We’re really disappointed we didn’t get the chance to celebrate with our existing team from our Burnley offices and our new recruits in Blackpool, but we will as soon as possible; and hopefully Tyson Fury will be able to join us in person then.”

Fury’s video message to the firm said: “I’d like to congratulate Alexander Grace Law firm that’s just opened its new premises in Blackpool. I was due to come down and open it, but obviously due the coronavirus I am unable to attend. I’d just like to wish everyone the best at Alexander Grace Law and hope to see you all soon. God bless."

As the new team in Blackpool settle into their new roles the company is now forging ahead with their Lytham launch, going ahead on June 1st.

Alexander Grace Law provides a modern, client-led legal service to clients in a range of areas, including Residential and Commercial Conveyancing, Lasting Power of Attorney, Wills, Probate & Estate Administration and Court of Protection.

Directors Donnamarie Sturrock and James Young together bring more than 20 years of conveyancing experience into the business and have bolstered the team with a wealth of talent in all divisions.
