Chorley based fulfilmentcrowd enjoyed a 320 per cent sales bump on Black Friday, its most significant year yet for ecommerce sales and fulfilment activity across the weekend of discounts.
The fulfilment technology and service provider won 140 new contracts in 2019, a record-breaking year. And across the Black Friday weekend, the company dispatched 14,300 parcels on behalf of customers, up from 3,400 in 2018.
The figure was boosted by its new international network, which gives better access to ecommerce markets in Europe and the USA, with centres in Germany, Holland and LA providing next day delivery and in-country returns on behalf of UK-based retailers.
Lee Thompson, fulfilmentcrowd sales and marketing director, said: “By 2040, it is thought that 95 per cent of purchases will be facilitated by ecommerce and this growing shift in consumer behaviour is clearly reflected in the performance of our clients this Black Friday weekend.
“We work alongside our ecommerce customers to forecast parcel volume far in advance, ramping up our own efforts across nine fulfilment centres to maintain excellent service levels during peak periods such as the biggest retail holiday of the year.

The company has also been contracted to provide its services for Lumos, whose kickstarter-funded cycling helmet recently featured on a record-breaking episode of BBC’s The Apprentice and will now retail internationally.
Lumos has developed the world’s first ‘smart’ bicycle helmet, which is app-connected and has integrated lights, hard brake and turn signals.
