At Fertile Frog, we believe that investing in the next generation of creative talent is crucial for the future of our industry and community. That's why we were thrilled to participate in the recent Tech Challenge Day organised by Northern Reach hosting Year 10 students from local schools at the Strawberry Fields Digital Hub.

Bridging Education and Industry
The initiative, designed as part of the "Experience of the Workplace Programme," provided students with a non-traditional workplace experience that supports skill development while aligning with potential vocational pathways. As business owners, we had the opportunity to connect with young minds, share our expertise, and witness firsthand the incredible creativity brewing in our local schools.

Our challenge to the students was straightforward yet engaging: create a company logo. This task allowed them to flex their creative muscles while gaining practical experience in branding - a fundamental aspect of our daily work at Fertile Frog.

A Day of Creativity and Collaboration
The day followed a structured agenda, beginning with introductions and presentation skills before diving into the challenge. Students were allocated into teams, fostering collaboration and communication - essential skills in today's workplace.

What impressed us most was how quickly the students adapted to the professional environment and embraced the challenge. Throughout the day, they developed their concepts, refined their ideas, and prepared compelling presentations of their logo designs.

Impressive Results
When the time came for presentations, we were genuinely blown away by the students' enthusiasm, creativity, and professionalism. Each team showcased unique approaches to the logo design challenge, demonstrating not only artistic talent but also thoughtful consideration of branding principles.

As part of the feedback process, we had the privilege of providing constructive criticism and encouragement, helping the students understand how their concepts might work in real-world applications. This exchange was invaluable - not just for the students, but for us as well, offering fresh perspectives and innovative thinking.

Community Engagement at Strawberry Fields Digital Hub
This event exemplifies what makes Strawberry Fields Digital Hub such a special place to work. As tenants, we're not just occupying space - we're active participants in a vibrant digital community that reaches beyond the building's walls to engage with local schools and nurture future talent.

The Tech Challenge Day represents just one way Fertile Frog is committed to supporting our local community. By participating in initiatives that connect education with industry, we're helping to build pathways for young people into the digital and creative sectors right here in Lancashire.

Looking Forward
The day was, in the organisers' words, "a roaring success," and we couldn't agree more. The level of talent, enthusiasm, and professionalism displayed by these young students gives us great confidence in the future of our industry.

We're proud to be part of a business community that prioritises engagement with local schools and creates opportunities for young people to experience the workplace in meaningful ways. At Fertile Frog, we look forward to continuing our involvement with similar initiatives and watching today's students become tomorrow's creative professionals.

Perhaps we even met some future Fertile Frog team members - only time will tell!
