Fagan & Whalley's fundraising efforts for two local charities

march-the-uk3.jpg

With our trucks out on the roads travelling up and down the country every day, we thought what better way to try and raise some money for charity than to follow in their “footsteps”?

This May, we’ll be conducting a virtual walk around the UK coastline, and the teams across the country have been doing their stretches, dusting off their walking boots and getting their water bottles at the ready in preparation. Starting from our Padiham headquarters on the 1st of May, our virtual route takes us out across to the Fylde coast and then northbound up to John O’Groats. From here we will continue, visiting all four corners of our nation, on the roads our trucks use day in, day out. Our mission - make it all the way back to F&W Padiham.

“We’ll be marching the UK this May in an effort to raise some money for two local charities that are close to our hearts - Blackburn Youth Zone and Pendleside Hospice,” explains F&W operations planner, Olivia Fagan.

“We’ve been involved in supporting the fundraising efforts for Blackburn Youth Zone for a number of months now, and it was a pleasure to become a part of their Patrons Network back in November last year. Their commitment to young people in the area is something to be celebrated, and they all work so hard in what they do. The charity offers much needed support and care services to young people of Blackburn and Darwen, including providing opportunities for skills development and personal and professional growth, as well as making continual investments into their general health and mental wellbeing. It’s a charity we are very proud to support, and we look forward to hosting more fundraising events in the future for them.

“Whatever the amount we manage to raise, the funds will be split between Blackburn Youth Zone and Pendleside Hospice. Pendleside Hospice is a charity that has touched the lives of many in the local community, F&W staff members included. They provide specialist and holistic palliative care services to enhance the quality of life for those suffering with life-limiting illnesses, as well as supporting their families and carers. Their service is second to none, and we’re all excited to start putting one foot in front of the other to raise some money for these two incredible charities.

“It’s going to be a major team effort to cover the 2,980 miles we’re aiming for, but we’ve already made an excellent start, and it’s been great to see so many staff members getting involved and heading out to put one foot in front of the other in support of these charities and the amazing work they do.”
