Preston property developer Breck has appointed an experienced leader in the regional property industry as head of its growing affordable housing operations in Yorkshire.

Nigel Robson joins as Yorkshire managing director of Breck Homes, Breck’s affordable housing arm.

He brings over 30 years’ experience in the development industry across the North.

He spent nine years in board-level roles at Yorkshire-based developer, Strata Homes, including senior land director and pre-development director, as well as working for several prominent housebuilders including McInerney Homes.

Most recently, he held a range of senior leadership roles at Keepmoat and subsidiary MCI Developments, including regional managing director.

Breck completed the purchase of its first Yorkshire office in July 2025, located at Millshaw Park industrial estate near Leeds, as part of its continued Northern expansion.

Breck Homes is currently awaiting planning approval for its first four affordable developments in the county, totalling around 240 homes.

Nigel’s role will focus on growing Breck Homes’ Yorkshire operations including its Yorkshire-based team, leading the progression of its current developments, as well as seeking and developing new opportunities across the county.

He said: “Breck’s growth since the company launched has been phenomenal and a real testament to the company’s values and the way it operates – with a reputation for consistent, high-quality delivery.

“It’s a pivotal time for the affordable housing industry, with ever-growing demand and the government’s planned £39bn investment in the sector over the coming years as part of its ambitions to create 1.5m new homes.

“Breck will play a significant part of this, transforming dozens of communities across the North and continuing our remarkable growth journey.

"We already have a brilliant team and I’m excited to play a part in the next stage of building our team and operations in the Yorkshire market.”

It comes after Lancashire Business View reported in October that Breck appointed Philip Dolan as the managing director of North West division of its affordable homes arm, Breck Homes.

Philip joined Breck Homes from Anwyl Homes, where he spent nine years in senior positions including North West managing director and, most recently, chief operating officer, overseeing a team of 250 staff.

Breck was established in 2020 by experienced property professional Andy Garnett.

The company employs around 40 staff and its Breck Homes division has become one of the fastest-growing affordable housing developers in the North West.

It works with partners such as Places for People, Progress Housing Group, Aspire Housing, Jigsaw, Great Places, Torus, LIVV Housing Group, Weaver Vale Housing Trust and Incommunities. Breck has delivered more than 1,000 new homes since its inception and has a pipeline of over 2,000 homes in development.

Andy Garnett, chief executive of Breck, said: “Breck has experienced rapid and sustained growth over the past five years.

"In order to continue this, while delivering the best possible service to clients and residents, strengthening our leadership team by hiring the best people in the industry is vital.

“In October, we hired former Anwyl Homes managing director Phil Dolan as managing director of Breck Homes in the North West, and Nigel’s appointment is the latest stage of our leadership team’s development.

"I’ve personally known Nigel for a number of years and he is a true industry expert and leader.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the Breck brand continue to grow and thrive in Yorkshire under his leadership.”
