Accrington Market has agreed a new partnership with Threlfall's Farm Dairies in Clayton-le-Moors and Rishton, which will see fresh milk, milkshakes and fruity smoothies available through a vending machine at the market.
The new area will offer visitors more than just a refreshing drink, with a dedicated seating area and a fun interactive experience featuring a giant cow figure which children can have a go at milking.
Threlfall's Farm Dairies is a fifth generation family run business, currently run by father and daughter team Paul and Kirsty Threlfall.
The family milks 200 cows twice a day, with every drop freshly bottled and ready for morning deliveries.
With two farms, Holt Farm in Rishton and Whin Isle Farm in Clayton-le-Moors, Threlfall's Farm Dairies has a strong local connection, processing its own milk and supplying many of the local milkmen who offer doorstep deliveries in the community.
The exciting partnership has been brought together through Town Centre Venues Manager Paul Fox, who has known Threlfall's Farm Dairies through the industry for many years.
Paul Fox said: "I've known Threlfall's through the industry for a long time and I knew they were thinking about doing a milkshake vending machine. It's something my kids absolutely love and I just thought, wow, how great would it be to have a really good, fresh milkshake vending machine in Accrington Market. We love local, and local produce is a real passion of mine, so I'm really excited to be working with Threlfall's and bringing something a little different to the market."
Paul Threlfall, of Threlfall's Farm Dairies, said: "It's fantastic to be involved in the reopening of Accrington Market and we're really excited about bringing the milk vending machine to the market. As a local family-run business, it's great to be part of something like this and to have the opportunity to bring our fresh milk, milkshakes and smoothies to visitors. We're really looking forward to welcoming everyone and seeing families enjoying it."
Cllr Clare Pritchard, Hyndburn Council’s portfolio holder for transformation and town centres, said: “We're delighted to welcome Threlfall's Farm Dairies to Accrington Market, with more exciting news about other new traders still to come. We're now in the final stages of the fit-out as we approach our opening in November, and it's fantastic to see everything coming together. It's a really exciting time for Accrington Market."
The newly renovated Accrington Market is set to reopen in November.
