Exact Abacus invests for future growth

Chorley-based Exact Abacus has implemented the next stage of its growth strategy with an £8,000 investment in mechanical handling equipment for its highly digitised warehouse operation.

The investment is part of the fulfilment specialist's programme of continuous improvement to enable scalability of capacity at the company’s 30,000 sq ft warehouse as throughput continues to grow thanks to new client acquisitions and the increasing requirements of existing customers.

Lee Thompson, sales and marketing director at Exact Abacus, said: “Our parcel volumes were up by 20 per cent in the final quarter of 2017 against the comparable period the previous year and we’re forecasting further significant growth this year, following recent client wins including Unilever, Think Drinks, Eurozone Brands and Soleheaven.

"This investment in automation at our hub ensures we can continue to maintain the same high service levels as we continue to grow, with integrated software solutions that ensure a complete end-to-end solution for all kinds of ecommerce businesses.”

Designed to further enhance shipping performance by speeding up the parcel packing and dispatch process, the new belt conveyors have been installed by Preston-based AS Conveyor Systems. Exact Abacus expects the new equipment to generate a positive return on investment within 12 months.
