The Matrix Park outfit works with over 120 online retail clients including fast-growing local businesses Kabo Sports, Burble Baby and Kitbox. Dispatching an average of 10,000 orders a week from its modern warehouse, stocked items include: e-cigarettes, soft toys, clothing, sports equipment, tools, ambient foods and vitamins.Managing director Lee Gregson said: “2014 signified a definitive change in the way consumers approach Christmas shopping, with Black Friday creating the strongest boost to retail sales in a decade. Unfortunately some logistics companies did not anticipate the surge and crumbled under the weight of demand. Thankfully, our forecasts were reasonably accurate and we started to scale up our capacity back in August.”
It was a good year on the whole for the fast-moving organisation as it celebrated its 30th anniversary, added 25 new contracts with clients as far away as Qatar and increased turnover by over 15 per cent. The business now employs 90 people and is planning further expansion in 2015. Lee added: “We’re very proud to be one of the largest employers in the area and well-positioned to take advantage of thriving demand for outsourced services. We are still recruiting for roles in sales, marketing, customer care, warehouse management and software support. Our clients can be assured that whatever they plan for the future, we will be ready to support them every step of way.”
