Mental health charity Lancashire Mind has announced that its CEO Tommy McIlravey will be leaving his post and moving on after five years at the helm.

Lancashire Mind an independently run charity, reliant on fundraising for its revenue, is based in Chorley and is committed to making a difference to the mental health of people living and working across the whole of Lancashire, delivering their services to schools, businesses, and individuals.

As well as expertly guiding the charity through the Covid-19 pandemic Tommy has since joining Lancashire Mind taken the charity forward with a renewed strategic direction and been instrumental in initiating and conducting the charity's biggest ever engagement programme with people across the county. Lancashire Mind has nearly doubled in size during this period and now has greater reach into the many diverse communities of Lancashire.

Janet Richmond, chair of trustees said: “We would like to thank Tommy for all his hard work over the years and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

"Whilst we are saddened to see Tommy go, we are grateful that he leaves the charity in great shape for the next CEO to drive us forward. Mental health and wellbeing have never been more important, and we still have a lot of vital work to do for and on behalf of the people of Lancashire. The board and I are now fully committed to recruiting our new CEO and look to the future with an experienced and dedicated staff team and many supporters."

Tommy said: “I have truly loved my time at Lancashire Mind but feel that now is the right time to move on. It has been a great privilege to work for such a fantastic charity and with the wonderful people in it. I will take with me the positivity and focus on wellbeing that my colleagues from Lancashire Mind have brought and wish them all the best for the future.”

Lancashire Mind will begin the recruitment process immediately whilst Mr McIlravey remains in post till the end of the year.
