One of Preston's leading businessmen has announced he is going to retire.
44 years ago, aged just 18, Peter Jackson opened the doors of his first jewellery shop in St. Georges Centre Preston with a passion to succeed.
Now, one of the most respected and recognised jewellers in the North West, Peter has decided that the time is right to retire.
Peter said: “In 44 years, we have created countless lifelong customers and friends and had the privilege of being a part of so many happy occasions.
"We have shared some of the most important moments in our customer’s lives – engagements, weddings, christenings, graduations, anniversaries and many more.
"We have supplied engagement rings to people who’s parents bought their engagement ring from us and retirement gifts to people who treated themselves to a new watch on their first day at work.
"I am immensely proud that 10 of our team have been with me for more than 10 years, six of those for more than 20 years.
"We could never have achieved everything we have without their dedication and support.”
Among many highlights have been business awards, buying trips to the world’s main diamond cutting centres, time in Switzerland with leading luxury watch houses, supporting dozens of local and national charities, and Peter’s honour of being presented with an MBE at Buckingham Palace.
As a thank you to their customers for all the support over the years, Peter Jackson the Jeweller will this week launch a 'Grand Retirement Sale' with 25 per cent discount off almost everything at the Blackburn and Preston stores.
Peter added “I shall be working closely with every member of our team to support and help them in any way I can and we look forward to welcoming our customers to the stores and helping them select special bargains.”
