Growing freight and haulage firm EFS Global has acquired Liverpool's FWD Freight Services for an undisclosed sum.

FWD Freight Services is AEO and ISO9001 accredited and provides a variety of sea, rail, road and air freight  forwarding and logistics services – both internationally and in the UK.

This deal is part of Burnley-based EFS’ ongoing growth and acquisition strategy across the UK.

Mark Jones, managing director of EFS Global, said: “We are delighted that FWD Freight Services, led by Fred Duenbier, is now part of the EFS Group.

"It is one of the leading freight forwarding businesses in the UK so is a natural addition to our portfolio of companies. Our focus is now on making sure it’s business as usual for FWD’s staff and clients but with the added benefits that come with being part of our group.”

The team at Davis Blank Furniss advised EFS Global on all aspects of the  transaction including legal due diligence and transactional matters. The team was led by Sonio Singh who is a partner in the corporate department.

FWD is one of the leading freight forwarding businesses and a natural addition to our portfolio.

Sonio Singh added: “Once again we were pleased to help the senior EFS Global team secure this key acquisition and continue their exciting growth  strategy.”

The deal follows a number of other acquisitions made by EFS in recent years  including Euro SDB, 747 Express Freight, Logictrans UK Limited, RTS  Refrigeration, CS Brunt, Horizon Distribution, BradTrans International, Euro-Tran Despatch, JRS Traction and PDQ Specialist Courier Services.
