EFS Global acquires Bolton haulage firm

EFS Global has acquired the entire share capital of Thomas Harwood & Son, the Bolton-based haulage and distribution firm.

This latest acquisition by Burnley-based EFS, part of an ongoing expansion strategy which has seen it snap up a number of similar firms across the UK, takes its total number of depots to 18.

Mark Jones, managing director of EFS Global, said: "For over 80 years Thomas Harwood & Son has been a leading distribution and haulage firm in the North West. The deal follows a number of other acquisitions made by EFS in recent years including Euro SDB, CS Brunt, Bradtrans International, Horizon Distribution, Euro-Tran Despatch, JRS Traction, PDQ Specialist Courier Services, FWD Freight Services, Caistor Distribution, AFI UK Ltd, Austin Wilkinson & Sons Ltd and Courier Connections (Scotland) Ltd.

The corporate team at Davis Blank Furniss, which was led by Sonio Singh, advised EFS Global on all aspects of the transaction including legal due diligence and transactional matters. The team also included Lauren Sever, corporate, commercial and employment solicitor.
