The marketing team at East Lancashire Learning Group (ELLG) has been awarded gold in the Large Team of the Year category at the prestigious FE First Awards 2026.
ELLG, which powers Nelson and Colne College and Accrington and Rossendale College, was commended for leading one of the most ambitious marketing transformations in the further education sector.
The award recognises the team’s work in helping young people, adults, and employers better understand their options, feel confident about their choices, and take the next step in education or training.
The team's winning submission showcased how they united hundreds of colleagues behind a bold new identity, launched multiple brands, and created campaigns that genuinely connected with the community.
As a result, more students applied, more learners enrolled on priority courses, and more families engaged with what ELLG has to offer.
Louise Marsden, vice principal for marketing and brand strategy at ELLG, said: “This award is really about our students. Every campaign and project we deliver is designed to inspire them and help them discover opportunities they might not have considered.
"Seeing more learners take that next step is what makes our work so rewarding.”
The judges' citation echoed this sentiment, praising the team for refreshing the organisation's communications in ways that made further education feel accessible, aspirational, and locally relevant.
From supporting young people to progress to top universities, to helping adults gain technical skills or start careers closer to home, the team's work has helped restore pride and belief in the power of education to change lives.
This gold award adds to an already exceptional track record.
ELLG has been rated Ofsted Outstanding for two decades and ranks number one in the country for A Level and vocational progression.
Established for over two decades, the FE First Awards are widely regarded as the highest honour in UK further education marketing.
