DCC Healthcare acquires Universal for £13m
Kirkham-based Universal Products Manufacturing Limited has been acquired by DCC Healthcare as it looks to strengthen its health and beauty division.The company, which ranked 46th in Lancashire Business View's most recent Hot 100, is a contract manufacturer of personal care creams and liquids. It has been purchased by Dublin-based DCC for around of £13m.
Universal develops, manufactures and packs a wide range of skincare, hair-care and pharmaceutical products for its customer base of British and international beauty and healthcare brand owners.The business employs 248 at its MHRA licensed facility in Kirkham, Lancashire. A statement said: "Combining Universal with its existing creams and liquids activities will allow DCC Health & Beauty Solutions to offer customers enhanced manufacturing and packing capability across two high quality, licensed facilities; in addition to product development, formulation, regulatory and technical services."
