Curtis Law Solicitors celebrates five-year anniversary

Statistics have shown that 50% of small businesses will fail within their first year, and a further 95% will close before their fifth year of operation.

Add to those statistics a business forming in 2008 - the beginning of one of the worst economic downturns since the Great Depression – and you might be inclined to write the business off as doomed to fail before it has even started.

Each of these statistics apply to Curtis Law Solicitors, a company that continues to go from strength to strength.

Tasleem Riaz, Principal at Curtis Law, and the partners, says: “From the start, our focus has been on creating the most personable legal service available. We like to market ourselves as being real solicitors for real people, offering jargon-free legal advice to those who need it.

"Blackburn was a perfect place to start the business. With a strong community spirit at its heart, working class values and potential for offering something unique and different in a market that was saturated with run-of-the-mill solicitors, we set up home with a satellite office in Limbrick before further investing in the community and opening a head office near the picturesque Witton Park.

"As the success of CLS’s real solicitors for real people approach began to grow, it allowed continued expansion into other targeted markets with the same values – first with the opening of an office in the Rusholme area of Manchester and then into Cheetham Hill and Middlesbrough. As 2013 draws to a close, we currently employ over 150 people from the local community – a true example of our home town’s motto of 'arte et Labore'.

"With the expansion of our company has come with it an expansion of our services. Starting out as a predominantly personal injury solicitor, we have since expanded our services to include medical negligence matters, family law, immigration concerns, property matters and recovering PPI. As one of the most diverse solicitors in the UK, we also provide advice on business matters such as employment law, litigation, and debt recovery, priding ourselves on client satisfaction at every turn.

"To celebrate the five year anniversary of Curtis Law Solicitors, we held a masquerade themed party at the Shajan Restaurant in Clayton le Dale, and offered our  staff the opportunity to win a variety of prizes such as a day off work, a bumper bonus pay packet, a night away in a hotel for two, a spa day, and vouchers for the Trafford Centre and share in the businesses success." 2013 has been a very exciting year for Curtis Law, with an increased drive on charity fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support and the Disasters Emergency Commission, teambuilding exercises, mass recruitment, and expansion into new areas of the law.
