Creatives join forces for football fundraiser
Creative agencies across Lancashire came together to compete in the NAFF Cup five-a-side football tournament and raise money for Lancashire Mind.
Organised by every1, the competition also featured A&P, Bespoke, Blue Wren and Heckford - all based in Preston - with Door4 of Burnley and Digital 22 in Clitheroe.
Chris Green, every1’s digital director, who came up with the idea for the event, said: "Lancashire Mind is a fantastic charity. With mental health now being talked about more in the public eye, especially where it concerns men, I felt it was important to do what we can to support it.
"I thought the NAFF Cup charity football tournament – aptly titled, considering our levels of experience – would be a fun way to raise money for such a good cause, while bringing agencies across our county together for some friendly competition."
The tournament was one of a number of fundraising activities which every1 organised to mark Mental Health Awareness Week, which also included a bake sale and a raffle. Raffle prizes were donated by Lancashire Business View, Hippo Motor Group, Peter Jackson the Jeweller, Porsche Centre Bolton and Summit to Eat.
All told, the events smashed every1's initial target and raised £1,100 for Lancashire Mind.
Mental health is gradually moving away from being the taboo subject it once was.
Fabienne Clough, Lancashire Mind fundraising coordinator, said: “We’re delighted that every1 has chosen to raise money for our charity with this very fun event. Mental health is gradually moving away from being the taboo subject it once was, but there is still some way to go. Particularly for men, it can still be very difficult to open up and talk about. Support like this will help make a difference.”
