Craggs are full of energy!

Local heating oil and red diesel supplier, Craggs Energy, has raised over £2,600 for charity.

Last week 13 members of the Craggs Energy team, laced up their walking boots and took to the hills above Calderdale with the aim to raise as much money as possible for two local deserving charities. Together the team have raised £2,665.27 with the funds being split equally between “Watermark Fund Calderdale” and “The Christie Charity”.

After a couple of un-anticipated injuries along the way, 11 members of the team managed to cross the finish line at The Hinchliffe Arms, just 23 hours after beginning the walk from the fuel company’s head office in Cragg Vale. Throughout different stages of the walk the “50 milers” were joined by other members of the team at Craggs Energy who walked shorter distances and offered support. Craggs Energy CEO, Chris Bingham commented “Walking through the night is always tough and requires both a good level of physical endurance and mental strength – this is even more important when you get through the night, dawn breaks and you still have another 30 miles to go! I’d like to thank everyone who made a donation and helped us to smash our initial £1,000 target, it really did spur us all on to complete the walk!” Watermark Calderdale is a not-for-profit campaign which aims to build a flood resilience fund accessible to households and business within Calderdale in the event of another devastating flood. The other chosen charity, The Christie, is a leading expert in cancer care, research and education. The charity raises money for a range of projects with the aim to not only give their patients the best care and treatment possible but also to support the patients families.
