County's highest earning football clubs revealed

Manchester United has topped the table for most money generated (£331.4m) during the 2010/11 season, whilst four Lancashire clubs comprise the North West top ten.

The Premier League’s Blackburn Rovers ranked highest of the red rose teams, earning £57.6m over the course of the season.

Blackpool, who spent the 2010.2011 season playing Premier League, saw income jump 449% to £51.8m thanks to increased coverage on TV and a boost in ticket sales.

Conversely, Burnley saw income drop by 38% to £28.2m following their relegation from the top division. Preston North End finished tenth in the table, registering a turnover of £10.8m.

The figures were compiled as part of advisory group Deloitte’s Annual Report of Football Finance.
