Excitement is continuing to build in Colne ahead of the 2022 Great British R&B Festival, which will take place in the small Lancashire town between 26th and 28th August.

A star-studded line-up has already been announced for the festival, and now Colne Town Council, organisers of the event, have launched a full programme of family fun activities which are set to take place over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Headlining that particular part of the festival is a giant LED fire breathing robot which will be available for all to see on the evening of Saturday 27th August. There will also be face painters on both Saturday (27th) and Sunday (28th), while both days will see bouncy Blues Brother stilt walkers in the town and buskers playing in the streets.

One of the most popular features of The Great British R&B Festival in previous years has been the fantastic range of food vendors trading on the street and this year is no different.

From the extremely popular Thai food van, delicious burgers and hot dogs from Hot ‘n’ Tasty, to hot sugared doughnuts and sweets, as well as an ice cream van, there really is something for everyone at this year’s festival.

Colne Town Council is also encouraging people to shop local, with a wonderful array of local shops, eateries and bars open throughout the full three days.

For those families looking to make a weekend of it, there is also a fantastic range of camping passes available at the Colne & Nelson Rugby Club (BB8 9SF). With prices starting from £14, tickets include full festival camping for a 4 person tent, individual night camping, as well as camper/caravan stays.

This year, Colne Town Council, is also giving children the opportunity to enjoy the festival in all its glory, with those Under 12 able to attend the Colne Muni and Pendle Hippodrome when entering with a paying adult (T&Cs apply).

Individual day and full festival tickets are available for the event, with day tickets priced at just £30-£40 and the full weekend ticket priced at £100, including access to all the venues. Over 50 blues, rock, roots and folk artists will be performing over three nights of incredible live music including worldwide stars Geno Washington, FM, Animals and Friends, and Dr Feelgood.

All tickets can be purchased online: https://www.colneblueslineup.com/get-tickets, while the full line-up can be viewed here: https://www.colneblueslineup.com/

Councillor Mary Thomas, chair of Colne Town Council, said: “We can’t wait to welcome families from around the UK to our fantastic little town over the Bank Holiday Weekend.

“We understand that people want to bring their children and make a real weekend of it, so we’re excited to put on a number of activities for the entire family, and with a wonderful range of camping passes available, we’ve got everything you need to enjoy an August Bank Holiday to remember.”
