Christmas in the community

At Fagan & Whalley, we’re incredibly proud of our heritage and the vibrant community which surrounds us here in Burnley - a town which has played a vital role in helping the company become what it is today.

In addition to the pride we feel for the community spirit and atmosphere of support in our local area, we also value the work of national and international charities in equal measure. That’s why, along with regularly supporting community initiatives locally, we are equally committed in contributing to charitable, environmental and community improvement causes which exist beyond Burnley, beyond Lancashire, and even beyond the UK.

Festive food & toy collection for Burnley Together

We were pleased to once more support the mission of Burnley Together to bring food and festive joy to vulnerable members of our local community over the Christmas period.

Initially set up as a means of providing much-needed support to those most vulnerable following the outbreak of Covid-19, Burnley Together is a community project with long-term goals, contributed towards by several local companies to share vital resources and ensure no one is left behind.

“Burnley Together has been described as a bit of a ‘one-stop shop’, which has been set up with lots of different partners in the Burney area, who are pulling together to achieve one goal and provide support in any form that’s needed, whether that be in parcels from food banks, prescription deliveries, community meals, or even in mental health support,” says F&W HR manager, Emma Wearden.

In an effort to support their cause, we set up donation bins around three of our sites - Site One, Burnley Bridge, and Albion House - and our teams managed to fill them up with lots of toys and festive goodies! Laura Fagan, one of our customer service representatives, then volunteered her time on Christmas Eve delivering food parcels to those in need.

Fuelling Santa’s sleigh!

We were delighted to team up with Altham Parish Council, providing one of our vehicles to bring St. Nick to the people of Accrington!

With his reindeer resting up for the big night, ol’ Kris Kringle needed our help with transporting his sleigh, and it was a request we couldn’t refuse! Loading it up in the back of one of our vehicles, we were happy to help out the big man in red with delivering festive cheer!

Our involvement with the Transaid Christmas Appeal

This Christmas, we teamed up once again with Transaid, helping them with their mission to provide access to vital healthcare services for those living in rural communities in Central Africa.

Transaid is a unique charity which prioritises road and transport safety, working alongside partnering organisations and governments to solve transport challenges in economically developing countries.

Founded by Save the Children and The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), with Her Royal Highness, Anne, Princess Royal as its patron, the charity maintains three core values which remain at the heart of every campaign:

Promoting driver safety by providing all relevant training and encouraging governments to invest in improving safety standards for roads and vehicles  Ensuring every family has access to vital healthcare, no matter how rural their communities  Providing every person with equal opportunities to build the skills they need to transform their future

“Transaid is a charity we’ve worked closely alongside for a number of years now, and we were delighted to get involved with the Transaid Christmas Appeal once again in 2021,” says F&W business strategy director, Sam Fagan. “Their cause is one we really value, and they do some incredible work which is definitely worthy of support.”
