Celebrating 95 years - The latest special edition Scania to enter our fleet

This year, Fagan & Whalley turns 95! To celebrate, we’re continuing the tradition of incorporating a new special liveried vehicle into our fleet to mark the occasion.

“Acquiring a special livered vehicle to commemorate the company’s big birthdays and key milestones has become a bit of a tradition in recent years,” explains F&W Operations Strategy Director, Daniel Wood. “We were taking a look at the year ahead and realised that we hadn’t yet done anything to mark the occasion of our 95th anniversary, so we immediately got to work with drawing up plans for the new special edition vehicle to make sure the tradition would be upheld!

“The special edition 95th anniversary vehicle is a Scania 450S 6x2 tractor unit, supplied by Craig Hargreaves at Preston Scania and painted up at our local paint shop, Hyndburn Commercials, who take care of all of our vehicles and have yet again done an excellent job!

“In line with what we’ve done previously for our 85th and our 90th birthdays to make these special edition vehicles stand out in the fleet, we went with a slightly different take on our brand colours when getting the livery sorted, and decided to reverse the two main greens in our colour scheme. The grass green that’s usually used on the grill of the other vehicles in our fleet is now the main colour, and the iconic F&W darker green that has become so synonymous with our brand features on the grill of the new vehicle.

“With this being a special edition vehicle, we’ve invested a bit into a few added extras and bling, including a Kelsa headboard and lightbars, and some statement lighting in the grill. The chassis chequer plating, rear wheel wings, wing mirrors and sun visor have also been painted in custom colours.

“Our decal supplier, Tim Eaves Signs & Designs, helped with the unique decals and made a slight tweak to our 90th anniversary crest. The end result is a slick-looking truck which we’re very proud to be introducing into our fleet.

“When it comes to assigning new trucks to one of our drivers, there are a number of factors which normally influence our decision. This time, we decided to make John Shirley the lucky driver. John has worked with F&W for almost nine years now, and is based out of our Coventry depot. John always takes great care of his trucks and is a real ambassador for the company and the Fagan & Whalley brand, so he was a natural choice for our 95th anniversary vehicle. He was already top of the list for receiving a new vehicle anyway, so the timing worked out perfectly, and it was great to see him so surprised and so delighted when we presented him with the new special edition truck.

“The truck is already getting a lot of attention on social media and out on the roads. John has reported he is frequently being “flashed” by other truckers while out and about!”
