Burnley’s first Professional Development Expo to take place on January 20

Themis and UCLan Burnley have team up with Adult Learning at Burnley College to offer Burnley’s first Professional Development Expo which will take place on Wednesday 20 January from 5:30pm – 7:30pm at Burnley College.

The event is open to local people and employees who are looking to progress their careers, return to training or want to change the course of their future entirely, not just as a New Year’s Resolution, but to change their lives forever. Through a combination of industry zones, expert seminars and professional development surgeries, visitors will be able to meet people in the know and get a real foothold on the career ladder.

Guest speakers will be presenting talks on diverse specialist areas from “How to be the perfect interview candidate” to “public speaking for the terrified”. Visiting recruitment specialists will also be offering insider info and tips from their dedicated stands.

‘Operating Theatre Live’ will also be presenting their unique, hands-on workshops on medical science. Any visitor interested in a career in nursing, paediatrics, science or medicine should make sure they attend this exclusive demonstration as it provides a rare insight and opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge about neurology, anatomy and the workings of the human body.

The event will host over 20 industry zones including Business, Creative and Digital, Sports Science and Education and Teaching to name a few. Industry Trainers will also be on hand to offer impartial advice and guidance about professional development opportunities and training programmes available through Themis, UCLan Burnley and Adult Learning at Burnley College.

The Expo is a response to Burnley’s continued industry growth. As one of the fastest-growing areas in the North for the tech and engineering industries, the need for skilled professionals is on the rise, and more organisations than ever are choosing to base themselves in Burnley and the surrounding East Lancashire area.

The Professional Development Expo will support local people to realise their potential and aim for the wealth of exciting new roles being created every day by local and national businesses.

Simon Jordan, Director of Themis says:

“We’re excited to be launching this unique event to promote the professional development of the people of East Lancashire. I think it’s testament to the continued rise in success of Burnley as an enterprising town that an Expo like this is not only important but necessary.” Keep in touch with the Professional Development Expo and find out all the latest information about visiting organisations, companies and experts via www.profdevexpo.co.uk and via Twitter: @profdevexpo
