lans to regenerate Leyland town centre have been boosted by a partnership being signed between Northern Trust Company and South Ribble Council.
The agreement, which supports the Leyland Town Deal, will see the organisations working together to support wider regeneration plans for Leyland while ensuring Balfour Court continues to play an important role in the town centre. Located off Hough Lane, Balfour Court provides much needed flexible office space for local businesses.
The area in front of Balfour Court will become part of the planned public realm, helping connect it with the wider Town Deal scheme. New parking for Balfour Court will be provided off Quinn Street, within sight of the building. Northern Trust will also make improvements to Balfour Court so that it sits well alongside the council’s development.
Northern Trust has also supported the relocation of Leyland Market tenants to its Kings Court development in King Street.
Nick Hemmings, regional property manager at Northern Trust, said: “We share the Council’s ambition to make Leyland town centre a better place for businesses, residents and visitors. Our teams have worked closely together to support that vision. Northern Trust has been a long-term investor in Leyland, and we are pleased to contribute to plans that will benefit the town for years to come.
Councillor Matthew Tomlinson, leader of South Ribble Council, said: “Great local partnerships are essential to the project’s success, and we are pleased to have worked with Northen Trust on these areas of the programme.”
