BOOming Halloween throwdown for Pendle gym

Crossfitters from Pendle faced their fears this Halloween, as they threw some frightfully good moves to get into the spirit of the season.

Members of CrossFit Pendle, based on the Lomeshaye Industrial Estate in Nelson, took part in a Halloween inspired throwdown which involved the fundamental CrossFit movements.

Mike Rawson, head coach said: “Our internal competitions are always really well received by members, so we wanted to hold a fun event for everyone to get involved in.

“The competition was slightly different this year, as members were placed in teams of four on the day; this meant there was a variety of abilities taking part and it really was anyone’s game!”

CrossFit Pendle was established in 2014 with a desire to offer the people of Pendle and beyond a constantly varied, high intensity exercise regime suitable for all abilities, age and fitness levels. The gym hold social events throughout the year to promote the community aspect and encourage the general public to visit the gym to watch competitions and see what CrossFit is all about.

Members got into the spirit by dressing up in Halloween themed attire; there was a fantastic selection of creative outfits on the day including the Addams family, Donald Trump, Harley Quinn and the Joker, vampires, cats, skeletons and devils.

The workouts were all very different, ranging from a two mile run to start the day, to weight lifting movements, kettlebell swings, pull ups, skipping and box jumps.

After battling through four tough workouts, the winning team consisted of Caroline Sibley, Nat Wright, Gareth Bann and Tom Duxbury.

Tom Duxbury, captain of the winning team said: “The day was really well organised and we all had so much fun. “The competitions are a great chance for everyone to get to know each other a little more and just have fun whilst working out, I can’t wait for the next one!”
