Bodycare named Britain's Best High Street Shop for Toiletries & Cosmetics

In a recent Which report to find the best shops for buying toiletries and cosmetics, Bodycare has been voted number one alongside John Lewis and Lush.

Outstanding ratings for the range of products stocked are behind Bodycare’s top performance in the 2016 survey of shoppers.

In a further Which report to find Britain’s best and worst high street shops, Bodycare has been ranked in third place with Richer Sounds and handmade cosmetics retailer Lush.

In a results table of 100 high street retailers as voted for by 10,000 shoppers, 76 per cent of respondents ranked Bodycare as one of the best retailers due to its branded toiletries at bargain prices. Bodycare was highly rated by customers based on overall satisfaction and how likely they would recommend their family or friends to shop there.

Daniel Blackedge, director at Bodycare, said: “This is a fantastic result for Bodycare and one which we are immensely proud of. Over the years we have continuously reviewed our business model alongside our commercial property strategy to maintain the necessary success for the business and to provide the highest level of service for our customers. We will continue to strive to provide the best range of products at the best prices, in the best retail environment for our shoppers.”

Bodycare’s parent company GR & MM Blackledge Plc started in 1970 and has since grown to over 130 stores operating from their distribution centre in Leyland, Lancashire. Bodycare has an ongoing active property acquisitions programme co-ordinated by commercial property agents Robert Pinkus & Co. LLP, who act for Bodycare in all its acquisitions and professional services requirements.

Joe Assalone, partner at Robert Pinkus & Co. said: “Bodycare operates a pro-active approach to its property portfolio, continuously pushing boundaries and challenging market prices to secure lower rents and better deals on commercial stock in order to pass on the savings to the end customer. Older property stock is constantly being reviewed and an ongoing store improvement programme is currently being rolled out across the UK.”

Five new stores and a flagship store with 4,400 sq ft ground floor retail space in Preston were acquired in 2015/2016. Further stores are planned by the end of the year. The current acquisition drive includes properties in high street or shopping centre locations, up to 3,000 sq ft, throughout the UK north of the M25, with market towns being of particular interest.
