Streetlife Blackpool have come together with Blackpool Expo 2019 to be the events chosen charity partner.

Streetlife is a Blackpool based charity that aims to assist vulnerable young people in the town, many of which are homeless.

With thousands of young people homeless in the UK, Streetlife helps over 400 young people every year to secure temporary accommodation.  They were established in 1982 and help Blackpool young people up to the age of 26.

Nichola Howard who organises the annual business expo said ‘Charities like Streetlife rely heavily on donations to provide the services they do, businesses can support this by arranging fundraisers which can contribute to their corporate responsibility, we are delighted to have Streetlife as our chosen charity for this years’ event’.

The charity has a day centre that holds drop in sessions to allow young people a chance to socialise, grab something to eat and use the resources available to search for a job or accommodation. They also offer advice and support for people struggling with mental health issues and substance abuse.

In 1992, Streetlife opened their night centre to provide temporary accommodation to young people in emergent situations who need the shelter the most.

79% of those who attended duty appointments after accessing the shelter were able to secure accommodation. They also provide help after housing is acquired through food packages, toiletries, clothing and intensive support.

As well as offering specialist advice in many situations, the charity has close relationships with many other local organisations that can give support in any areas they may not be able to.

“Streetlife are overwhelmed and thrilled to be chosen as the Launch Events NW charity of the year, in 2019 it’s more important than ever to safeguard and protect our young people. As a local Blackpool charity, we solely rely on the kind donations of individuals and business alike to keep our night shelter open.” Jane Hugo – Streetlife CEO

You can find Streetlife at the Blackpool Expo 2019 on September 25that the Village Urban Resort Blackpool.
