Blackburn builder develops innovative design system

A new modular building system that brings a flexible and affordable solution to gaining extra space in both the domestic and commercial environment has been launched by a Blackburn designer and builder.

Moduplan has been developed by Jamie Hall and has been brought to market to fill a much needed gap in the provision of a high quality product that not only puts the client at the heart of the design, but has a contemporary look and offers affordability.

He said, “Having worked in the building sector for over 20 years it was apparent there was an increasing demand from our customers for affordable, quality and flexible accommodation that was specific to their needs.

“Moduplan has been designed to be inherently robust and as it’s modular, clients whether domestic or commercial can design it to ensure that it is specific to their own needs. This includes the colour, the panel types that feature different door and window options, the exterior finish and how it’s laid out internally.”

The adaptability of the building system is brought to life on the Moduplan website using a unique Building Designer App that allows the user to create their own building step by step, accompanied by an estimated cost calculator.

The Moduplan system minimises disruption to the client as 80% of the work is carried out off-site. In a domestic environment typical preparation and build time would be between one and two weeks, and three to four weeks for a commercial building.

The panels which are insulated and conform to current building regulations are constructed in Blackburn, in a quality controlled environment to ensure that the high standards on which the business is based are maintained. All wood used is responsibly sourced and from sustainable resources. The versatility of Moduplan has already been used in a variety of applications including a garden room, office, studio, primary school building and the Box Office for the Manchester International Festival.
