BFCitC scores Grow the Game funding

Burnley FC in the Community is on the hunt for the next generation of female players after receiving a £3,000 Grow the Game grant.

The funding will support Burnley FC Women, the Clarets’ female football club (operated by Burnley FC in the Community), which provides elite training and development to players from under the age of six through to senior women’s teams.

The Grow the Game scheme, which is funded by The Football Association and delivered by the Football Foundation, will enable Burnley FC Women to create two new teams; one at under 9s and an additional under 10s team, providing a boost to female participatory opportunities in Burnley.

This year, funding was made available for clubs looking to create new female and disability football teams, which can assist towards the costs of FA coaching courses; FA league affiliation costs; referees’ fees; first aid kits; football kit and equipment.

Neil Hart, Chief Executive Officer at Burnley FC in the Community said: “We are delighted to secure Grow the Game funding from The FA and the Football Foundation.

“Both Burnley FC and Burnley FC in the Community are passionate about women’s football. We are firmly committed to delivering high-quality coaching to females to develop as players.

“This grant will go towards creating the two new junior teams and funding a number of our female coaches’ level 2 football coaching qualifications.

“It will support us in our mission to help more local females play the game and reap the many benefits of sport.”
