The North West and Manchester divisions of residential property developer Bellway have helped colleagues from across the UK raise £1m for Cancer Research UK.

Bellway began fundraising for Cancer Research UK in 2016. In just two and a half years, more than £1m has been raised by the company’s 5400 employees and suppliers across the UK coming together to organise bake sales, sponsored walks, charity balls and a record number of golf days nationwide.

Fundraising activity in the North West and Manchester areas was driven by two of Bellway’s local employees who took on the roles of charity coordinators for their respective divisions and rallied their teams to raise as much as possible.

They are delighted that money raised by the company will go directly to help fund vital research into beating cancer, ensuring that more men, women and children from across the North West region survive if affected by this terrible disease.

Charity coordinator at Bellway North West, Jeannie Mosedale, said: “Having visited the Cancer Research UK labs and seeing the great work that is done first hand, I find nothing more motivating and satisfying than raising money for CRUK.  The work that is done is truly wonderful and I’m so pleased that we’ve raised so much.”

Charity coordinator at Bellway Manchester, Hayley Ward, added: “I was delighted to take on the role of charity coordinator and was determined that our regions made a significant contribution to the national total.  So many of us have been touched by cancer on such a personal level, I hope this goes towards finding more cures over the coming years.”

Cancer Research UK’s senior local fundraising manager for Liverpool and Manchester, Jo Moss, said: “The Bellway Manchester and North West teams have made a huge contribution to Cancer Research UK’s work over the past two and a half years and we are incredibly grateful for their support.

“One in two people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer at some stage in their lives, but the good news is more people are surviving the disease now than ever before. Cancer survival in the UK has doubled since the early 1970s and Cancer Research UK’s work has been at the heart of that progress. However, we have only been able to achieve this thanks to the dedication and commitment of volunteers and supporters like Bellway without whom we would not be able to fund our life-saving research.”

In the same month, Bellway is also celebrating receiving its prestigious five star homebuilder award from the Home Builders Federation (HBF) and National House Building Council (NHBC) for the third year running.

The highest accolade a homebuilder can achieve for exceptional customer service, the award is based on the results of the National New Home Customer Satisfaction Survey, an annual survey that gathers feedback from thousands of purchasers across the UK after they move into their new home.  Prestigious five star status is only awarded to companies where more than 90% of customers are satisfied with the quality of their home and would be happy to recommend a friend.
